Los Angeles, CA, November 1, 2011 - On the heels of the international success of the critically acclaimed wuxia epic, DETECTIVE DEE AND THE MYSTERY OF THE PHANTOM FLAME, and in celebration of the DVD/Blu-Ray/Digital/On Demand release on December 13, Independent Film and Distribution Company, Indomina Media, Inc., has created an exclusive contest featuring two notable graphic artists – Melissa DeJesus and Andy Belanger.  The contest will run between November 1 to November 14 at 12 am EST, where fans can visit www.Facebook.com/DetectiveDeeFilm to vote for their favorite comic.  The winning artist’s graphic novel will be converted into a motion comic book as part of a bonus feature for the DVD and Blu-Ray release, as well as a grand cash prize.

The artists will face off in a battle between which comic book style works best – American or Manga style. DeJesus will represent the Manga Comic Style and Belanger will represent the North American Comic Style. The contest will give both artists the opportunity to create a digital graphic novel based on a Detective Dee treatment, which was provided by Indomina.

The artists have between October 7 and October 28 to finish their artwork (which includes pencils, inks and lettering) before voting starts on November 1st.  Once the voting ends on November 14 at 12 am EST, the winner will be announced on Facebook.

INDOMINA CATCHES “CABIN FEVER”

The Indomina Group Picks Up Options For Two New “Cabin Fever” Films

Los Angeles, CA – October 31, 2011 – It was announced today that The Indomina Group, the fast-growing U.S. and Dominican Republic based producer and distributor of film, TV and trans-media content, and leading proponent of ‘fanboy’ cinema is resurrecting the popular “Cabin Fever” franchise and will produce and distribute at least two more feature films. The announcement was made by Indomina Group Vice Chairman and CEO Jasbinder Singh Mann.

The Indomina Group has optioned the rights for two new “Cabin Fever” installments, which will be “Cabin Fever: Patient Zero” and “Cabin Fever: Outbreak.” The films will be shot back to back in the Dominican Republic in early Spring of 2012.

Jake Wade Wall (“The Hitcher,” “When Strangers Call”) has signed on to pen the screenplay for “Cabin Fever: Patient Zero.” When a cruise ship in the Caribbean collides with an abandoned research vessel, a deadly virus is unleashed. Passengers must find a way to survive before the flesh eating disease consumes them all.

“Cabin Fever: Outbereak” is being written by Adam and Deborah Marcus (“Leatherface 3D,” “I Walked With a Zombie”). In this film a doctor and his family travel to a remote Caribbean island to investigate a minor flu outbreak, only to discover a vicious flesh-eating virus that threatens everyone on the island. The family is faced with the responsibility to prevent a worldwide epidemic.

Original “Cabin Fever” producer Hypotenuse Pictures is producing these next two films. Indomina Group Vice Chairman and CEO Jasbinder Singh Mann is executive producer on both films.

“We see tremendous potential with the ‘Cabin Fever’ franchise,” said Singh Mann. “We are committing to two new ‘Cabin Fever’ films because there is a real demand from a devout fanbase – not just ‘Cabin Fever’ die hards but a large and vocal group of horror fans around the world. Indomina is excited to take the reigns of the franchise and deliver on these next two films.”

The Indomina Group has been active of late, having recently acquired North American distribution rights (as well as financing and selling) the comedy “A Fantastic Fear of Everything” starring Simon Pegg (“Shaun of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz”) as well as the thriller “Life Without Principle” – the newest film from internationally acclaimed director/producer and contemporary maestro of Hong Kongese action cinema Johnnie To.

In July, Indomina announced a partnership with Samuel L. Jackson to produce a new live action “Afro Samurai” film based on the popular animated series that has spawned an impressive franchise and a global following. This highly anticipated film project is expected to come off the ground in 2012.

Indomina's critically-acclaimed epic adventure “Detective Dee and The Mystery of the Phantom Flame” directed by Tsui Hark is on the home stretch of a successful theatrical run that saw it earn the highest per-screen box office average of Labor Day holiday weekend in North America. Other recent releases include the romantic comedy “Griff the Invisible,” starring Ryan Kwanten (“True Blood”), Yuen Woo Ping’s martial arts feature "True Legend," starring Vincent Zhao, Zhou Xun, Michelle Yeoh and the late David Carradine, and Teddy Chan’s award-wining “Bodyguards & Assassins.”

Jackson and Gonzo studios to produce a new live action film based on the popular “Afro Samurai” animated series that has spawned an impressive franchise and a global following. The announcement was made by Indomina Group Vice Chairman and CEO Jasbinder Singh Mann who will serve as producer with Samuel L. Jackson and Gonzo Studios’ Shin Ishikawa. Eli Selden of Anonymous Content is executive producing.

Academy Award® nominee Samuel L. Jackson has been close to the franchise for a number of years having voiced Afro Samurai for the 2007 anime TV mini-series “Afro Samurai” and again for the 2009 Emmy® winning animated TV movie “Afro Samurai: Resurrection.”

Said Jackson, “This has been one of my very favorite properties ever since our amazing debut at Comic Con with the original series pilot out of Japan. I can't wait to produce the epic feature film version with our new partners at The Indomina Group."

“When Indomina was launched, ‘Afro Samurai’ was quickly identified as the perfect property for us to option and exploit through our vertical channels targeted to a fanboy audience,” said Singh Mann. We never took our eyes off the property and are very pleased to not only have the opportunity now to make an extraordinary film, but to do it with Samuel L. Jackson, who is just as passionate about ‘Afro Samurai’ as we are. This is a perfect collaboration in the eyes of Indomina. We look forward to going to work with Sam and Gonzo on this and making something discernibly unique.”

Producers plan to attach a writer and director this summer and complete casting by the end of the year. The film will be shot at Pinewood Indomina Studios in the Dominican Republic in 2012.

Indomina optioned the rights to “Afro Samurai” from Japanese rights holder Gonzo and will make “Afro Samurai” the first feature film production from The Indomina Group, which over the last six months has debuted its North American distribution arm (Indomina Releasing), international sales division (Indomina International) and Studio operations and facilities (Pinewood Indomina Studios).

Stacey Smart Stanley is overseeing the project’s development for Indomina while Chris Carlisle will be the point person for Gonzo Studios.

About Afro Samurai

Afro Samurai (アフロサムライ,) is a Japanese seinen dōjinshi manga series written and illustrated by manga artist Takashi Okazaki. It was originally serialized irregularly in the avant-garde dōjinshi manga magazine Nou Nou Hau from September 1999 to May 2000. Inspired by Takashi Okazaki's love of soul and hip hop music and American media, Afro Samurai follows the life of Afro Samurai who witnessed his father (owner of the No. 1 headband) being killed by the hands of a gunslinger named Justice (owner of the No. 2 headband) while he was a child. As an adult, Afro sets off to avenge his father's death and kill Justice.

The Afro Samurai dōjinshi was adapted into a 5-episode anime TV series by Studio Gonzo in 2007. The same studio also went on to produce a made-for-TV movie sequel entitled Afro Samurai: Resurrection in 2009, which gained two Emmy nominations, for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation, which it won, and Outstanding Animated Program. After the release of the anime series, Takashi Okazaki remade the original Afro Samurai dōjinshi into a two-volume manga.

In addition to the success of the anime series, Afro Samurai has also been adapted into a video game. For the TV series and the film, two soundtracks by the RZA of Wu-Tang Clan have been released as well as a profile book in Japan.
